When Should You Get an Alignment?
As you drive over time, your wheels will get out of alignment and will need to be brought back to the proper positions. Wheel alignments should be done about every 6,000 miles. That's usually enough driving mileage on your Volvo to have it ride on the highway, over potholes, and other road conditions, that the vehicle will need to be brought back into alignment.Â
There are multiple benefits to an alignment. First, they help reduce treadwear, similar to a tire rotation, but in this case, it's because the tires are touching the road at the right degree and angle, and not causing wear because of a misaligned wheel. Another is that it keeps your driving efficient, and ride a lot smoother behind the wheel of your Volvo.
Here are some signs that you need an alignment, and should schedule one with us at our service center:
- Your vehicle is pulling in one direction or another as you drive, causing you to have to correct it often while steering, even in a straight line
- Your steering isn't centered, or your handling feels loose as you drive
- You've noticed rapid tire wear on one or more wheels, which can mean they're not properly aligned or hitting the road surface evenly
If you notice any of these signs, or it's been a while since your last alignment, you can make an appointment with us at our service center to have them looked at and get an alignment performed.
Neglecting to get wheel alignments at regular intervals can lead to many issues. This includes bearings and joints being worn down, which can lead to costly replacement parts and repairs to your vehicle.
